![]() See, if someone with bad intentions goes into the voice chat and has inappropriate conversation with children and the parent decides to sue, they can say that the offending person was identified with whatever they sent, show that to the lawyers, transfer the responsibility the the offender, and call it a day. It's something called the "Cover Your Ass" technique. As for age verification, it is useless as anyone with half a brain can easily create a fake id that would likely pass the instant verification you seem to think is being used. With the number of identity theft that goes on would only take one rogue employee to siphon off these "temporary" pictures. Sorry, I do not for one second trust any company that says, oh we don't store anything. Now they can't hop into a voice chat full of kids. The only people who should be upset with this are the child predators that used the platform to prey on children. Honestly, this age verification system is a good thing for the Roblox platform. is all public record so if somebody is trying to find you, they don't need to hack Roblox's age verification system to find you. I don't mean to sound like Captain Obvious here but the literal designed purpose of your ID card is. ![]() ![]() I have had to use IDs or documents for identification online for several services and plenty of military or government junk. If your gripe is with using a form of ID for age-verification in the first place though. The whole process takes seconds to complete, then your account is "age verified" and you can safely go about your day. Lastly, the verification is entirely automated and none of the submitted raw data is stored or retained by Roblox. Furthermore, if people want to use voice chat they almost always use something else, like Discord. I don't actively play Roblox (I have played with the kids a few times here and there but I don't actively play) but to my knowledge, none of the thousands of games on the platform require voice chat. Unfortunately, there are a ton of disgusting people out there. If you want to voice chat with people in-game though, you need to verify your age so they can ensure you are grouped with people your age only. You are absolutely NOT required to submit your ID or anything else at all if you'd just like to play Roblox in the same manner as 99.99999% of the player base. The age verification system is only required for ONE piece of the service, too: voice chat. Pretty much all of the kids around here play it, to the point where the school even started using something within Roblox itself to do a pseudo-lesson at one point. Roblox is a MASSIVELY popular gaming service both of my kids play it pretty frequently.
